मृद् mrd : Sanskrit, the word for clay.
It is not at all lost on the artist, the creation story of Adam, being made of clay, earth, then subsequently animated by the divine breath of God.
Understanding the movement from the inanimate to realized, is the purpose of many of us.
This ceramic practice lives in that idea.
Peaked by interest from a dear friend, I tried my hand (literally) at this art.
There was immediate love and passion.
Pulled from the earth, moved by hand, and set by fire into something that did not exist in this form before.
Something that could outlast me.
After seeing the final forms, things became even more clear…
Sitting with this practice is a lesson in centering oneself. Steadying and realizing patience. It teaches intention and strategy.
I rather appreciate the ceremony of living.
I now make this an offering to you and your ceremony. Of life.
I offer ”mrd” to you for drinking or decor, or eating, or holding fire, incense or intention.
“mrd.” in your home is to bring the same philosophy that lives in the stippled ink on paper, or a meditation of life. To live.
My intention and imperfection that reminds us that we are being.
